My hope is that my art will inspire others to see all the beauty and love in our world.
Tell us a bit about yourself
My grandmother was an artist and I always wanted to paint like her. I enjoy looking at
paintings and bought a pastel painting of a seascape years ago and it still hangs on my wall. The pastel colours are so bright and glorious.
What does your work aim to say?
I trying to capture the qualities of kindness, love, and joy in my paintings.
Who (or what) are your biggest influences?
I am inspired by photos that I have taken when kayaking or travelling. The little details that I find when painting are always fascinating to me.
How has your career developed and evolved?
Once I had taken a few classes, I was hooked.
Describe your dream project
It was a photo I took of my daughters with a friend at the beach with their arms around each other. It has been so dear to me and to paint it made it special.
What is the best piece of advice you've received?
To look at the shapes represented by each detail and then let the inspiration flow in your movements.
How do you overcome creative blocks?
Taking a break, but when I look at my photos I have so many that I want to capture in a painting.
How do you stay motivated in your art practice?
When I am out exploring, I see so much beauty in my surroundings and I am inspired to paint what I see.
How do you balance your personal life and your art practice?
My art is an important balance in my life, so I make time for this artistic expression.
