Chenoa Thrupp Probst is an emerging artist based in Boorloo/Perth, whose work radiates vulnerability, liberation, love, and power. Deeply inspired by color and the female figure, Chenoa’s art weaves personal introspection with broader societal commentary, exploring themes of identity, feminism, and environmental consciousness.
As a young and ambitious creative, Chenoa transforms her journey of self-discovery into intricate layers of interwoven color. Her introspective approach challenges societal misogyny, confronting conventional ideas about the self. Additionally, her passion for the environment informs her work, particularly her exploration of climate change and its impact.
In 2023, Chenoa earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Visual Arts from Edith Cowan University. Her standout triptych EmpowerHer was featured in the university’s graduate exhibition ArtsHum23, earning her the prestigious Louise Macfie Award.
In July 2024, Chenoa embarked on a six-month residency at the Inglewood Arts Hub, where she has delved into a new creative concept inspired by the decortication process of eucalyptus trees. This natural phenomenon, where trees shed their outer bark to reveal intricate patterns, shapes, and colors beneath, has become the focal point of her recent work.
Through varying levels of abstraction, Chenoa celebrates the beauty of Australia’s iconic eucalyptus trees, paying homage to their thousands of unique species. Reflecting on her inspiration, Chenoa shares: "I have been surrounded by gum trees throughout my life and have always been in awe of the ever-changing colors that appear depending on whether it had rained or if bark was being peeled off. The works in this exhibition are a tribute and celebration of these magnificent and beautiful trees that continue to mesmerize and inspire me."
Chenoa’s residency has not only allowed her to explore new techniques and concepts but also to deepen her connection with the natural world, translating its beauty into art that resonates with emotion and meaning.
